Your employer will decide whether an off-site or in-plant rescue service will best meet  your company's needs. 

If it decided that an in-plant team will be organized, qualified co-worker will be designated and trained in confined space rescue.

You may try out for your rescue team. To qualify you will need :

• Physical fitness and health
• Good endurance
• Enthusiasm
• Willingness to learn
• Team-oriented attitute

There are many confined space that would pose significant problems for rescue entry.

Some of these rescue may be very complicated, thus pre-planing the rescue of each confined space on the premises will make rescue procedure go smoothly, efficiently, and safely.

★Each entrant must be provided with retrieval equipment, 
such as an approved body harness with a retrieval line.

★The other end of the retrieval line must be attached to a
mechanical device or fixed point outside the space.

★A mechanical device must be available to retrieve personnel
from a vertical space more than 5 feet deep.

★Equipment that can become tangled or will not work because of the configuration of the space must not be used.
